FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. WHAT IS A 501(c)(3) ORGANIZATION?
Section 501(c)(3) is a portion of the U. S. Internal Revenue Code that allows for operating not for profit foundations. It requires that the foundation give only to nonprofit organizations. All grant applications must provide verification they qualify as a 501(c)(3) organization.
2. WHERE DO YOU GIVE GRANTS?
While preference will be given to grant requests effecting folks in the Midwest, there are no firm limitations on the location of the grant request project.
3. WHAT AREAS DO YOU SUPPORT?
We will be supporting organizations whose main purpose for existing is furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will support organizations and projects that promote the sanctity of life. We will support organizations and projects that provide humanitarian services and activities.
4. WHEN CAN I APPLY?
Grant applications will be accepted year round, but applications received after June 1st each year will be considered for awards in the following year. We will review applications on a regular basis, make decisions on grant awards and notify the recipients as to when the grant may be received.
5. DOES THE FOUNDATION OFFER MATCHING GRANTS?
Yes. This is not a requirement but would be considered desirable in a grant request.
6. DOES THE FOUNDATION FUND OPERATING BUDGETS, BRICKS AND MORTAR, AND/OR DEBT RETIREMENT?
While it is a possibility it is not the top priority of the foundation.
7. HOW LARGE ARE THE GRANTS?
In order to support as many projects as possible, it is our intent to make grants between $5,000 and $50,000 though other amounts will be considered.
8. DOES THE FOUNDATION MAKE MULTIYEAR GRANTS?
This is a possibility but would not be a top priority of the foundation.
9. CAN WE APPLY FOR MORE THAT ONE GRANT FROM THE FOUNDATION IN THE SAME YEAR?
It is not the intent of the foundation to provide more than one grant per year to any organization though nothing is beyond consideration.
10. WHO AND HOW ARE GRANTS AWARDED?
After the application deadline on June 1st, a grant evaluation team will consider each request. The requests will be scored based on the rubric included with the grant application instructions.
11. WHAT IF PLANS CHANGE AFTER BEING APPROVED FOR A GRANT?
If the plans change after being approved either the funds need to be returned or a new plan must be approved.
12. WHEN MUST A GRANT BE USED?
Generally the grant should be used in the twelve months following the receipt of the funds.
